Quinlan Cranes

First in Victoria with Tadano GT550E
"Less fuel and quicker travel time translates into big cost savings and better profitability."
Altona crane operator Tom Quinlan has become the first in Victoria to take delivery of the new Tadano GT550E crane. According to Tom Quinlan, business has been consistently great, so much so that he has been struggling to keep up with demand for his cranes.

The full range of new generation Tadano cranes is being sold and supported by authorised Australian dealer, James Equipment.

"We simply had more work than we could handle," said Tom Quinlan. "The decision was taken to upgrade from a 1986 model Tadano TG500E with 7000 hours on the clock so I started doing some homework."

"I was 100% happy with our old Tadano crane so had no hesitation in talking to James Equipment about a new 2004 model Tadano," Tom said.

"I looked at all the options available and came to the conclusion that a truck mounted crane delivers much better cost efficiencies than an all-terrain crane."

The new Tadano GT-550E global truck crane of 55t capacity is Tadano's flagship crane. It is a fully hydraulic truck-mounted crane that has been produced following a meticulous research and development program. This is the very finest crane in its category in the world today.

"The GT550E delivers an extra 5 tonne capacity over my old crane,” said Tom. The turning radius is better and given that my travel speed is now 85 km/h as opposed to 66km/h, we can get to and from jobs quicker."

"An important consideration for me is that the unit is road legal and has no problems being road registered. We do quite a lot of work outside the metropolitan area so travel times and being self sufficient is vitally important."

"I have also noticed a marked improvement in fuel efficiency with the Tadano GT550E. Less fuel and quicker travel time translates to big cost savings and better profitability.'

"In the workplace the new Tadano GT550E is a modern wonder. All the computerised technology works brilliantly. It is easy to operate, a very gentle unit, and there is also plenty of space in the cabin."

Since the new Tadano GT550E has been brought into the fleet, the crane has been used on a variety of projects. It has been on construction sites lifting concrete panels, quarry maintenance projects, man-box work and even in the 'garden' lifting palm trees into position.

"I am absolutely delighted with the new Tadano crane," Tom Quinlan said. “The unit is fabulous and the service and support from James Equipment has also been first rate all the way through from when we first made contact, to our trade in, delivery and operational support.'

According to Brendan James, MD of James Equipment, the Tadano delivered to Tom Quinlan is a milestone for the company.

"We have delivered plenty of Tadano models into all parts of Australia, but to have our very first unit delivered into Victoria, our home state, gives us a lot of pride."
